River Boat Patrols & Rescue:

The Fon du Lac Park Police Department provides active patrols and initial law enforcement and rescue response to all types of incidents on the Illinois River within its jurisdiction. In addition, our department works in conjunction with the Illinois Conservation Police, US Coast Guard, and the Tazewell County Sheriffs Department in providing law enforcement and rescue response through an inter-agency agreement. This agreement increases our ability to more effectively provide security to all ports, infrastructures, and key facilities located along the Illinois River between River Mile Markers 139.6 to 181.3.

The Fon du Lac Park District Police has a 30’ Monark boat equipped for quick response to incidents on the river.  This vessel is equipped with VHF/UHF radios, a Starcom radio, night vision equipment, river rescue equipment, and defibrillator.  The department also has a hovercraft used in areas of the river the boat cannot access.
