“We don’t stop playing when we grow old, we grow old when we stop playing”

More than a catchy phrase, this is a concept to embrace. The longer we ‘play’, the better we feel physically, spiritually, and emotionally, according to countless studies from organizations such as the National Institute on Aging to AARP. The synonyms for the word play may be more appealing to adults. They include fun, recreation, sport, amusement, enjoyment, and entertainment. So there is the proof, according to Webster. Playing is not reserved for children. It is ageless.

The Fon du Lac Park District is dedicated to the idea that leisure is an important component of life. A large variety of programs and outings are offered every month to give adults opportunities to enjoy leisure time, promote social connections, stimulate the mind, and experience fun. Participants do not have to reside in East Peoria, and adults of all ages can participate.

For outings and day trips, our luxurious 25-passenger mini bus is utilized. Outings originate from the Fon du Lac Park District’s Administration Center unless otherwise specified, as do most of the programs and classes.

It’s easy to get involved! Call 309-699-3923 or stop in to the Administration Center to register for the offerings that interests you. You may also call and request your name be added to the Senior Newsletter mailing list. Hope to see you soon!
